The dog is rarely the hard part. The handling is.
Private lessons put you and a master trainer together on the mechanics of dog handling. This is where owners stop guessing and start getting clean, repeatable responses from their dog.
Sessions are built around empowering you with the skills, timing and confidence to guide your dog through everyday scenarios. Timing is the skill almost nobody is taught, and it is the one that decides whether your dog understands you or merely tolerates you.
Whether you are troubleshooting specific in-home issues, fine-tuning leash etiquette, or building reliable focus around distractions, every session is customized to your lifestyle and your goals. Nothing generic, nothing off a class curriculum.
One-on-One Private Lessons are available throughout our immediate service area. We also cover the outlying areas upon request.
We start from what is actually bothering you day to day, not a generic obedience checklist.
Leash handling, timing, marker use and reinforcement placement, corrected in your hands.
Once the skill is clean, we raise distraction and duration in the environments you live in.
You leave with a clear plan for the week so progress compounds instead of resetting.
Most owners are surprised by how much of the first session is about their hands. Leash tension, reward timing, where you are standing, and what your feet are doing all change what the dog experiences. A cue delivered half a second late teaches something different from the same cue delivered on time, and dogs are far better at reading the difference than people expect.
There is a reason we sell coaching rather than obedience alone. A trained dog in an untrained household regresses, because the household keeps reinforcing the original behavior without meaning to. The person who lets the dog through the door first, the person who tightens the leash whenever another dog appears, the person who repeats a cue four times: each of them is teaching something. Once you can see those moments, you stop creating the problem you are paying to solve, and progress becomes much faster and considerably cheaper.
Owners frequently assume private lessons are the cheaper option, and per session they are. Over a full case they often are not, because progress depends entirely on what happens in the six days between sessions. Households that do the homework get excellent value. Households that do not end up paying for the same session repeatedly. We would rather say that plainly up front than discover it at session eight, which is also why some cases get pointed toward a residency instead.
One-on-One Private Lessons is booked after assessment, not before it. That is not a formality: recommending a program before anyone has looked at the dog is how owners end up buying the wrong thing. The free behavior consultation establishes what is actually driving the behavior, and only then do we confirm whether this program is the right fit, how long it should run, and what it will cost for your specific case.
It depends entirely on the goal and how consistently the homework gets done. Simple etiquette issues can move in a handful of sessions; behavior modification takes longer. Packages are available.
Wherever the problem lives. That may be your home, a park, a parking lot or a busy street, because proofing has to happen where the behavior actually happens.
Often yes, provided the handler is consistent between sessions. For severe cases we may recommend Board & Train first, then private lessons to maintain it.
Both, but the lasting value is in you. A dog that only responds to the trainer has not been trained, it has been managed.
The behavior consultation is free, and it is the only responsible way to confirm this is the right program for your dog.
