24/7 structured learning, in a real home, not a kennel run.
Board & Train is our premier immersion program. Your dog lives and learns in a safe, home-based environment with structure applied around the clock, not for one hour a week. That consistency is what makes the difference on serious cases.
Every day is built around individualized training: core obedience, impulse control, real-world proofing and behavioral rehabilitation. By establishing clean neural pathways and consistent boundaries, we fast-track progress that would take months of weekly lessons to reach.
The part that matters most comes at the end. Training that lives only in the trainer's hands is worthless, so the program includes comprehensive handler participation. You learn the mechanics, the timing and the maintenance so the results transfer home and hold.
We take board & train clients from across Southern California.
Every Board & Train starts with the free behavior consultation so the program is built on a real diagnosis.
Clear communication, structure and impulse control installed in a low-distraction environment.
Skills are pressure-tested in the environments and around the triggers that actually matter to you.
You are coached on the mechanics and timing, then we hand the dog back to you working.
The first few days are mostly decompression. Dogs arriving from a stressful household need their arousal baseline to come down before any real learning can happen, and pushing training into that window produces compliance rather than understanding. Once the dog settles, structured sessions ramp up across the day, spaced with genuine rest. Rest is not idle time here. Consolidation happens between sessions, not during them.
The reason immersion works on serious cases is repetition density. A weekly lesson gives a dog roughly fifty meaningful repetitions a month, spread thinly, with six days of rehearsing the old pattern in between. A residency gives them that many in a couple of days, under conditions we control, with no opportunity to practice the behavior we are trying to change. For aggression and entrenched reactivity, that difference in density is often the difference between slow drift and actual change. It is also why we do not sell fixed-length packages: the number of repetitions a case needs is a property of the dog, not of a price list.
The persistent myth is that Board and Train sends home a finished dog. It does not, and any program sold on that promise is selling you something that will unravel. What a residency does is compress the hard part: it builds the behavior, changes the underlying association, and proofs it under controlled conditions. The transfer of that work to your hands is a separate job, which is why handler participation is built into the price rather than offered as an upsell.
Board & Train is booked after assessment, not before it. That is not a formality: recommending a program before anyone has looked at the dog is how owners end up buying the wrong thing. The free behavior consultation establishes what is actually driving the behavior, and only then do we confirm whether this program is the right fit, how long it should run, and what it will cost for your specific case.
Length is set by the case, not by a package. Obedience-focused stays are shorter; aggression and severe anxiety rehabilitation take longer. You get an honest estimate at your consultation.
No. This is a home-based residency with structured routines, training sessions, decompression and rest built into the day.
Handler participation is built into the program. You are taught the mechanics and given a maintenance plan, because results that do not transfer are not results.
Yes. Structurally safe practice around serious behavior is a core specialty. Disclose bite history up front so the program is planned safely.
The behavior consultation is free, and it is the only responsible way to confirm this is the right program for your dog.
